Incomparable luxury

It would be a short sell to credit today’s magnificence only to brilliant yellow sunshine amid a startling blue sky above a glistening azure river meandering like an oil painted image across the vast distant panorama. What has crystallized the rampant euphoria is not the inexpressible natural beauty nor the comforting and measured sound of a flatbed on a dusty country road. Rather it is the supreme satisfaction of knowing we made it! We have made it to the other side of worry and uncertainty.

The glory of the moment – albeit with a stretch of comparison – is metaphorically captured by the similarly apt but unanticipated delight of the GOP after the recent US presidential election. It illustrates the fecundity of the conclusion. In either instance it would be quite impossible to avoid the coincidence of luck and aspiration (though clearly as well with obligations remaining from the happenstance snap).  But one mustn’t begrudge the fortuity of consequence whatever and wherever it may be. Ours is never a predictable future and there really is the value of celebrating another’s success albeit contrary by some inestimable calculation to one’s own. All of which is to say that notwithstanding the ambience of the world, whether viewed with either glee or disbelief, there was nothing today to limit the effervescence and spirit of contentment.  It was an incomparable luxury which I haven’t any intention to dilute or discourage.

Stretched upon a lounge chair on the balcony after noon today, staring into the dazzling sun I thrilled to its radiant heat while sensing the faintest northern breeze from behind upon my silken collared neck.  Earlier this morning, on the heels of yesterday’s surgery, outfitted with fresh clothes and renewed ambition, I had repositioned my gold and silver accessories. My space was complete!
