Death, howsoever elegantly portrayed, is I believe more worrisome than most care to admit. First though I wish to acknowledge the expropriation of the thoroughly civilized phrase “departing the mortal coil” from my erstwhile housemate at law school 54 years ago.  He’s a  retired Supreme Court Judge.
